Kylie & Andy
Kylie & Andy’s beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens summer wedding ceremony was filled with birdsong, laughter, tears of joy & cloud cover! Kylie & her father followed her three attendants down the aisle to the sounds of Nick Cave’s classic love song ‘Into My Arms’. The wedding party of siblings & lifelong friends, together with and a large gathering of guests listened with interest to the chronicle of how life had brought this loving and loyal couple to this special day. During the ceremony, to honour Kylie’s Fijian heritage, the couple stood barefoot on a Tapa; a specially handcrafted wedding gift woven from mulberry bark, embossed with traditional motifs, a significant cultural treasure.
A beautiful blessing was recited in Fijian by Kylie’s uncle as tears flowed freely from many of the emotional guests that had gathered from various parts of the globe. Kylie’s good friend Lee read a George Eliot piece entitled ‘Words on Feeling Safe’, which was especially chosen by Kylie & Andy as it reflected the importance of openness and acceptance in relationships. Their heartfelt personal vows were followed by the exchange of their wedding rings which were expertly delivered to Andy’s brother & best man Nick by his son & Andy’s young nephew Alec.
As the couple sat down to sign the marriage certificates the sun broke through throwing glorious dappled light onto a beaming faces of the handsome groom & his beautiful bride. Kylie & Andy remained in the gardens to have photographs taken & to celebrate with family & friends and a glass of champagne, warmly accepting the many hugs, handshakes & kisses of congratulations that embraced them.
Dear Barbara, thank you so much for all your help & guidance in creating our wedding ceremony. We had a wonderful day thanks to you, all our love Kylie & Andy
